The Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp (1941-1945) is known worldwide as a symbol of Nazi genocide and terror. During World War II, it was the largest Nazi concentration camp in which over a million people died, mainly Jews. After the war, the Polish authorities transformed the camp into a museum dedicated to the memory of the victims of Nazism.
The Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum is located on the outskirts of Oświęcim, about 60 km west of Krakow. The facility is included in the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage list. A visit to the Auschwitz-Birkenau museum will bring you closer to the cruel fate of people staying there, as well as expand your historical knowledge of the Holocaust.
