Time: 3h
Location: Kraków
Price: from 39 PLN

The Sanctuary of Divine Mercy in Łagiewniki is connected with the life and activity of St. Faustina Kowalska, promoter of the cult of Divine Mercy.

From 1940, the tomb of St. Faustina and the image of Merciful Jesus have become a place of pilgrimage for the faithful experiencing many graces. After Sister Faustina’s beatification in 1993 and her canonization in 2000, the Sanctuary developed dynamically.

This place was visited twice by Pope John Paul II in 1997 and 2002, and by Pope Benedict XVI in 2006. The Sanctuary complex consists of a chapel with the relics of St. Faustina, a two-level basilica with a 77-meter observation tower, 5 chapels in the lower part of the basilica and a chapel of Perpetual Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. A short distance from the Sanctuary, there is the John Paul II Center „Do not be afraid” – a center devoted to the life and work of Pope John Paul II. In the museum dedicated to the Pope, you can admire many exhibits related to the pontificate. On June 12, 2011, the relic of St. John Paul II – an ampoule with blood, placed in the altar.
